Dear Parishioners and Friends of Christ the King Church:
For nearly 100 years, Christ the King Church has welcomed you through its doors to grow your faith and be closer to Jesus Christ, most especially through the Eucharist. As your spiritual home, you have approached the Church for family baptisms, weddings, funerals and other sacramental moments. It is your sacred space. Just consider how many sacred moments your family has shared within the walls of Christ the King Church.
It is now time for us to renew our sacred space, updating it in several areas. A quick look around the Church will show that we are in need of certain upgrades. Specifically, we will replace the carpet, add new kneelers, clean the woodwork throughout the Church, paint the interior of the Church, add doors to the confessionals for privacy, refinish the exterior doors of the Church on both levels, repair the roof in several places and significantly upgrade the lighting and ceiling fans within the Church. This will be the first major renovation for the Church since 1979. We are looking to freshen our worship space and bring it into the 21st century.
Our campaign, which is seeking $600,000 to underwrite this project, is aptly named Renewing Our Sacred Space. I ask you, our parishioners and friends, to partner with us in supporting this endeavor with a special gift. Please consider this gift in addition to your already generous weekly support, which will continue to underwrite our daily programs and life. In addition to an anonymous $100,000 gift, we have also received a generous gift from parishioners Douglas and Maureen Casella for $250,000, so we are more than halfway to the goal.
Attached to this letter you’ll find a form to fill out and send back to us with whatever gift or pledge you feel speaks to your family and what Christ the King Church means to you. To show my own support, I pledge $2,500 to this renovation.
One last note about this renovation and campaign. Except for the new kneelers, all of the work mentioned above will be completed by local contractors. Additionally, this campaign is being run by me personally. We are not hiring expensive consultants for the renovation or campaign. All of your money will underwrite this renovation, and most of it will stay local.
On the back of this letter, please find a prayer I have written asking God to bless us in our work. I ask that you pray it often. I look forward to hearing from you on how you will be a partner in supporting the update and renewal of your sacred space.
Sincerely in Christ,
Msgr Bernard W. Bourgeois, Pastor
